Are we allowed to joke about the ignore function?

As in, "I have the fastest ignore finger on DU"?

Also, are we allowed to inform someone we are putting them on ignore and why, or is that considered a personal attack?

Asking for a friend.

...of informing someone here of my I've of adding them to my much loved ignore list.

The list, which I've utilized quite liberally, is a wonderful feature that helps prevent getting dinged for expressing one's anger.

I of course try to be polite when sharing my intention of ignoring a fool in question.

it's probably best to listen to the little voice and don't post it. I've wished many times that I had listened. It's understandable that sometimes people can really push you and you want to let them know it. But really, it doesn't help matters to tell them they're on your list. Just quit talking to them. They'll get the message.

and having them trashing things I'm posting, sometimes with lies and misinformation, and I'm not even aware of it. But everyone else sees my post and the response or responses that seemingly convincingly, but falsely, tearing it apart.

If I'm too delicate and sensitive to see all responses, then probably I shouldn't be posting on a discussion board in the first place.

Even if it's not responses I'm worried about, but rather if that person is posting false information about issues I know and care about, and misleading their fellow progressives, then I want to know about it.

If the ignore function hid my posts from the person I put on ignore, then that would be great. But that's not how it works, just the opposite. It's unilateral disarmament on my part, something I simply will not do.

...who and what they are all about.

I have a low tolerance for chanting dogma.

Occasionally when one of my OPs starts generating a lot of responses that I can't see, I'll take one of them off of it temporarily for amusement, but if I pass my amusement threshold, I'll put them back on.

If in the temporary suspension from the list I see something meriting response or correction I may comment either in the thread or in a different OP, but in topics connected with my personal foci I'm generally covering the point independently of a particular individual.

My impression of the general DUers is that the majority are - how shall I say this gently - mature individuals and if as a result we finally figured out who we are, we know our limits. I have been dinged in the past for not acknowledging my limits, and so I concentrate on recognizing them in this important beloved forum.

And for jury duty and MIRT service.

I have a 1) logged in version and my 2) balls to the walls unfiltered yee haw version for jury duty and MIRT.

Each resides on a separate browser.

Version #2 comes in handy when I am trying to extrapolate meaning from what appears to possibly be an interesting discussion, but I can only see 25% or less of the replies, so it makes little sense overall. Having the unvarnished truth is often much more entertaining.

Thank you for your descriptions and perspectives. They are appreciated by me for many reasons. Honesty is the biggest.

As a public service, I would like to announce that a poster being ignored by me always receives the complimentary coffee and donut prior to placement on the list of the Ignored Honorariums.

It's my way of saying, "Thanks, but no thanks and bye Felicia without the laborious act of typing.

Love you, oc.

❤️👋

I certainly hope I'm not being too harsh.

It occurred in a discussion in an OP I posted: The Biogeochemical Fate of the Long Lived Radioactive Fission Product Selenium-79.

I think I made myself clear. There isn't really any point to saying more since I have more important things to do.

For instance, as is the case with the OP, I have scientific issues related to environmental issues worth discussing with people who can grasp the point, something clearly not involved here.

I wish you a nice life.

This conversation is concluded permanently.

I'll be troubled no more.
