From the moment she stepped onto the court in Arlington, Paige Bueckers felt the pulse of history ready to surge beneath her sneakers. Trailing by 17 points at the half, the Wings needed a sparksomeone to bridge past rookie legends with the WNBAs bright future.
What followed was nothing short of cinematic. Bueckers unleashed a masterful all-around performance, tallying 19 points, eight assists, and five rebounds to become the first rookie to hit that 19-5-8 threshold since Caitlin Clarks dozen-hits last season.
Though Dallas ultimately fell 7971, Bueckers explosive line signaled the arrival of a new phenom ready to chase the benchmarks set by Clark.
Bueckers stat line (19 PTS, 8 AST, 5 REB, 2 STL) led all Dallas contributors and marked a clear leap from her 10-point debut just days earlier. Despite the loss, her plus-minus of +2 in 37 minutes underscored her positive impact on both ends of the floor.

(72,924 posts)I only saw the highlights, but they lost that game and it wasn't because of Bueckers.
On the subject of Paige, where are all the pouty veterans that talked about how Clark would not dominate because "the league" was so hard?
Since Clark WAS a dominant force, I think Paige has been spared the barbs because those blowhards were so wrong about Caitlin.

(72,924 posts)That doesn't work for me.
It's not like Caitlin put the league on notice that she was taking over. She was humble & honored to be drafted.
