all of which wanted to control the goose with the golden eggs.
The plan at first was to run up the west side of the central valley where there would be no stops in empty territory with high speed the rule once the metro areas of SF and LA were left behind. Then politicians lobbied to get the rail to run thru the east side of the valley thru a series of stops in towns, turning high speed into commuter rail. The new plan meant billions in extra cost to be divided up by labor and construction companies and local land owners in the way.

the concept of high speed as competitor to air travel was trashed.

btw that republican congressman is full of sh** because it was local politicians mostly from his party that helped hijack the route, IMO

so why not bring in the chinese to finish the job in a short time? well if u stand in the way in china they might just drag you out in the street and shoot you, then steal your land.
