Hey all you billionaires. Why not spend some of your fortunes here on Earth to make it a better place for all people? Clean the air and water, make sure all people are healthy and have enough to eat. Make housing affordable. Why are so many billionaires so willing to write off this planet as a doomed hellscape which they seek to abandon like some galactic ghetto rather than making the world a better place to live? Oh, I forgot they're Libertarians. The billionaire class deserves to be on top and screw everyone else so, "The fundamental weakness of western civilization is empathy." (Musk) And what if they do colonize other planets but a more advanced alien race considers them biological pests to be exterminated? There goes the neighborhood.

for a location for their Galt's Gulch, a place of natural beauty but so hostile in other ways that it will never be infested by peasants wearing their ugly WalMart spandex and taking selfies and generally fucking up his view.

So far, they've explored one harebrained scheme after another like floating cities, bachelor pads, er pods, on stilts in inaccessible coastal wetlands, waterless desert in Arizona, waterless desert in Death Valley and now their sights are set on places both lethal and inaccessible offthe surface of Earth. Bon Voyage!

AdamSomething has had fun with a lot of this shit, so check his channel out. He doesn't restrict himself to the west coast US techie bozos, he's also taken on a few governments that seem determined to make the governance of their countries so physically remote from the governed that the latter will have no choice but to obey without being able to ask uncomfortable questions of their governments.
