AOC: We need to be talking about ICE agents and the cowardly policy of covering their faces — and, in many cases, their identification… The idea that we’re going to allow a paramilitary force to bloom, one that isn’t accountable to the Constitution… we’ve got another thing coming.

... point of view, and I'm not sure there is any law possible that will make them show their faces. I don't think the "masks" are mainly for preventing the spread of diseases. I think the masks show their task is shameful. Also, I wouldn't want, for example, their kids to have trouble in school. The focus should be on the shameful and sometimes lawless acts of Crooked Donald and his wretched Administration.

Balaclavas are in certain contexts associated with criminality as gang members have used them to conceal their identity. In 2004, police in Prestwich, England, began demanding that people on the street remove their balaclavas, describing the garment as "extremely threatening". In 2008, police in Kent confiscated a copy of the War on Terror board game partly because of the inclusion of a balaclava, stating that it "could be used to conceal someone's identity or could be used in the course of a criminal act."

They're hired members of Proud Boys or other right-wing gangs.
