I just finished my first term on MIRT, and I can tell you newbies that you are going to learn an amazing amount about what goes on here and feel a part of DU in a whole new way!
If you are anything like me, you may be a little confused in the beginning, as there is tons to learn. You'll pick up a lot just from following the discussions on the MIRT board, but don't hesitate to ask questions if you don't understand something. Everybody was new once, and everybody remembers what that was like. I found long time team members to be unfailingly warm and helpful and I was never made to feel like I was being stupid or a pest. 
I can seen from EarlG's post that the new team includes a lot of extremely knowledgeable and experienced members, so I know DU will be in good hands. Good luck, everybody!
