(6,628 posts)Back in 1976, I worked as a vendor at a Navy Exchange. They asked us to wear colonial era garb for Navy Birthday, July 4, and other holidays that year. One young lady who didn't sew, couldn't make a colonial era dress, got inspired. She and her dad got a good sized box, Cut an opening for her head and two for her arms on the sides; covered box with batting and covered that with tan burlap. They stenciled East India Tea Company on it, wrapped some fairly heavy rope around it. She wore a leotard, tights, and tap dance shoes under her 'tea bail' costume. Inside the box, she had a small tape recorder with the song Tea For Two on the tape.
That little girl tap danced all day.
Now, I don't tap at my age, but keep thinking that would be a pretty cool thing to make for another protest. AZ in June, so just a tank top and shorts under a box that would provide my old body shade. Yeah, considering it.
