Josh Stein IS a Democrat, and was previously the (D) state AG, and won by almost 15% against a complete wacko loon.

NC is a swing state and it's a matter of tapping into the disinterested Dems or Indies who ARE there, and get them fired up enough to deal with the gerrymandered state legislature. They FINALLY resolved the state Supreme Court race where (D)s now barely hold the majority.

Oh and Obama did win NC in 2008 by about 1/3rd% (but unfortunately lost it in 2012 by about 2%). Harris lost it by about 3% (Biden had lost it by a little more than 1%).
