The "moth ball fleet" has been at Mare Island since I don't know how long. When I was in the navy, eons ago, we did a work detail there, hauling bedding off of them. I'm going to Mare Island in a couple of days and I'll see what's going on.
Mare Island is on the Napa River, which empties into San Pablo Bay, north of San Francisco Bay. I'm looking forward to my visit, it's an hour on the Ferry from Sf.
