Emmys: TV Academy apologizes for photo mix-up [View all]

During the Emmys "In Memoriam" segment, there was mix-up.

André Previn, who died Feb. 28, was recognized during the memorial. But the photo the awards show used to identify the composer and conductor was of someone else.

Instead, the face of Leonard Slatkin, 75, conductor, composer and music director laureate at Detroit Symphony, popped up on the screen – and he is still very much alive.

In an emailed statement to USA TODAY, the producers, the Television Academy and Fox said they "sincerely apologize for this error."
