Wolf hybrid on the loose in the Bay Area captured, reunited with owners
Nov. 6, 12:30 p.m. Shadow, a two-year-old wolf hybrid that ran away from his home in Santa Rosa over the weekend, was captured and reunited with his owner Monday morning after days of searching.
Mark Scott, executive director of North Bay Animal Services, said reports of the canine, which is twice the size of a husky started flooding in Sunday afternoon. Scott and animal control officer Emily Crumm and Sebastopol police were able to locate Shadow and attempted to remove him from the center divide of Highway 12 by creating a traffic barrier and coaxing him onto Merced Avenue, which led to the property where he lives. He had been on the run since Wednesday, according to his owners.
Unfortunately, there was a huge field nearby with 280 acres of land, so we were out there until around 9 or 10 oclock last night trying to get him to go toward the owners other dogs, Scott told SFGATE over the phone Monday, noting Shadow gets along with other animals and was not displaying any aggressive behavior. He was too much in flight mode, and it was rainy and dark so we decided to let him stay where he was and try again this morning.
