I know everything changes, but it’s sad to see the struggles Santa Cruz has been through, exacerbated by the influence of the moneyed Silicon Valley millionaire property owners.

When it takes an hour, sometimes two, to drive from Watsonville to Downtown Santa Cruz(or vice versa), when it used to take 20-30 minutes, even in rush hour traffic, something’s not working.

When I moved to BC in 2012, I could get from my job sites in downtown San Jose/Santa Clara to the Hwy17/1 “fish hook” (about 40 miles over a winding mountain highway)quicker than I could from the fish hook to the Soquel Drive exit to my home (about 2-3 miles).

It’s only gotten worse since.
