Why are we so fractured this year?
PG County here... I'm not seeing this "fractured" party you describe. The fact that Jealous' campaign isn't taking hold, and that fact that he's behind in the polls by 20% does not mean the PARTY ITSELF is "fractured" ... how is it that you've come to that conclusion? Where are these "fractures" you're referring to? What makes you believe that?

Why the lackluster support for Ben?
Sadly, I believe there are two reasons. 1) Hogan is a somewhat popular and non-controversial governor. He's not a Trump humper. There's a healthy balance of power. 2) Jealous has run a "lackluster" campaign, which may account for the "lackluster support".

A possible third reason I've seen discussed elsewhere may be that the appearance of Ben Jealous' close association with "socialism" (whether deserved or not) dissuades folks in the center from supporting him. During the primaries, Jealous made a HARD play to appeal to those who are furthest left in the Democratic party... and it worked! He got the nomination.

However, the things that motivate the far left to show up in the primary will also motivate MOST of the right and center-right, and moderate Republicans/Independents to support the Republican in the General Election. All I'm saying here is the the Jealous campaign miscalculated the overall and long-term effect of their strategy and public appearances.

Very disappointed in them and will remember their actions when people are reaching out for money in the future.
Charming. How ironic! First you ask what's going on and what's wrong in our state AND THEN follow-up with a threat to PUNISH the party... which has the effect of WEAKENING the party in our state. Why? Revenge, perhaps? Tell me please... what good purpose does that serve?

half heartedly endorsed Ben.
What was "half-hearted" about it? What were you expecting? Has the Jealous campaign reached out to either of them to ask for their help?

Is the "old white guy" club in Annapolis not ready for the future of the democratic party?
Again... charming. Name-calling isn't divisive at all, is it?

Here are some photos of the "old white guy" club members in Maryland's Democratic Party.
