A wealthy entrepreneur bought up *an entire neighborhood in Detroit* for $540K [View all]

During the 2008 recession this was done to minority neighborhoods in Chicago and developers basically used blight as a reason to bulldoze them.

A wealthy entrepreneur bought up *an entire neighborhood in Detroit* for $540K with the intent to ‘beautify’ it.

A decade later, he’s sold about 10% of the properties for more than $9.5 million. The rest are sitting vacant, racking up blight tickets https://bridgedetroit.com/john-hantz-tree-farm-detroit-east-side-blight/
