Researching obits - have you run across this and what were your results? [View all]

Twice now I have run across obits which ask another paper to run them.

For ex. An obit in the Boston Globe and the last line states "Kentucky papers please copy"

Another one makes the same request for Nova Scotia papers.

I do know the link between the deceased and the NS papers but not the link between the deceased and the KY papers (although that will be an interesting path to follow).

My question is, does anyone know how this worked in practice? Did the requested papers print a notice as requested? Was it free back then? Has anyone had luck finding a notice in the requested paper?
