4. The point is to intimidate and display dominance, not to flirt or flatter or anything else.

It is a display of status. Men would not dare talk that way to anyone who could do much at all about it.

It is a way to reassert their dominance and power as men qua men. To reinforce their own sense of status, and also to reinforce this hierarchical (patriarchal) power imbalance in the eyes of all the men and women (and children) who witness these displays.
