Trump fired the head of the Copyright Office to start legalizing the AI bros' theft of copyrighted work to train AI

And the Librarian of Congress was most likely fired a couple of days ago because that official appoints the head of the Copyright Office.

The AI bros - Musk, Altman et alii - have been putting tremendous pressure on governments around the world to change their copyright and intellectual property laws to carve out an exemption for AI training data.

They've already stolen hundreds of billions, possibly trillions of dollars' worth of the world's intellectual property. That theft is the ONLY reason generative AI - the AI that generates text, images, video and music - works as well as it does. Open AI, with its ChatGPT and Dall-E, has admitted they can't get by with just what's in the public domain.

And although AI companies have made token efforts at licensing - most likely to improve their image during these court battles - they do not want to be forced to compensate all the people whose copyrighted work they stole.

They don't even want to go along with proposed legislation under consideration by the UK government that would allow them to use that copyrighted work for training AI, as long as the artists and other creators were allowed to opt out. The AI companies made it clear they have no intention of revealing what they stole for their training data; they would find it too burdensome to allow artists to opt out; and in no way are they willing to compensate owners of that copyrighted work if it isn't removed from the AI.

And now Elon Musk has said we should get rid of intellectual property laws, period.

Of course he and other billionaire AI bros have the money and power to go after anyone who steals their creations.

They just want to make it impossible for the people whose work they stole to go after them.

And Trump is now removing government officials they view as obstacles.
